Tourism The brief of the Tourism Committee is to promote the Cobh and Harbour area as a major Tourism destination.

It is involved in fund raising for marketing and advertising to achieve this aim.

Business Development This committee:
  • represents the retailers
  • co-ordinates their activities to promote the development of their businesses and the general well being and appearance of the area.
  • Education and Training

    The Education and Training Committee creates and maintains links between Education and Business and helps to identify training needs among the Chamber members. It also provides Training Programmes and works closely with the schools for whom it promotes the use of European Languages and carries out Mock Interviews.

    Transport and Infrastructure

    The Transport Committee ensures that existing transport services are maintained and new services are introduced to facilitate easy access throughout the area, in particular by road, rail, bus and ferry.

    Environment / Waste Management

    The Environment / Waste Management Committee ensures that the historical heritage and the amenities of the area are protected and maintained.

    Industry Task Force

    The Industry Task Force is involved in attracting new industry and promoting the development of SME's throughout the harbour area. It also facilitates existing industries and promotes networking among industry by visits to members companies from groups of members. Staff are also seconded to industrial members for holiday relief etc.

    CorkCruise

    CorkCruise is a joint venture between the Port of Cork Company and the Cobh & Harbour Chamber. The brief of this committee is to promote Cobh as a major Port of Call for Cruise Liners. 52 liners are due to call in 2009.

    Information Technology

    The I.T. committee is involved in raising member's awareness of I.T./e-commerce and to encourage its use. One of its main aims is to advise and explore new developments in I.T./e-commerce and to keep members advised of these advances. It is also involved in sourcing I.T. related training for members.
