GENEALOGY

The following genealogical resources are available, locally.

Roman Catholic Records

The Mallow Heritage Centre is the Irish Genealogical Centre for the Diocese of Cloyne (all of the East and North parts of Cork county including Cobh.) It has completed the computerising of R.C. Baptism & Marriage Records up to 1900.

St. Colman's Cathedral (R.C.) has its own baptism records on computer and also burials in the graveyard at Ballymore.

Church of Ireland Records

The Cobh Genealogical Project is currently computerising all Church of Ireland (Anglican) Baptism, marriage and Burial Records for the county. It has completed the Church of Ireland parishes bordering Cork Harbour.

The Mallow Heritage Centre (see above) has computerised records of several Church of Ireland parishes in the north part of the county.

 

Graveyard Records

The Cobh Library has a book containing all the inscriptions on the gravestones in the Old graveyard (non-denominational) up to 1984.

St. Colman's Cathedral (see above) have computerised the burial records for the Ballymore Graveyard in the eastern part of Great Island.
