News update

The Chamber held a series of Breakfast Meetings in 2015, with guest speakers talking about issues for family and small businesses. Speakers in October were J.J. O’Connell of Family Business Ireland and a project team from the Lower Harbour Main Drainage Scheme Project. Please look out for future events.

The Chamber held a very successful lunch on Friday 13th November last, with guest speaker Mr. Alf Smiddy, Local Government Review Chairman.

The Chamber Tourist Office had a very busy season.  Over 30,000 tourists came into the office over the summer of 2015, seeking information. Tens of thousands of queries were also received on the phone and Internet.

The Chamber worked with Cobh Municipal District Council on the “Cobh Christmas Lights” project. It is intended to upgrade the Christmas lights over the next few years.  Christmas 2015 saw the introduction of new lights in the two squares and in the Promenade.  The Chamber would like to thank all those businesses and those in the community who assisted in funding the shortfall.

Another Chamber initiative was the “Christmas Shop Local” campaign, where customers who spent 5 euro or more,  could enter a draw, with the prizes being shopping vouchers for local shops. This provides value to customers and encourages shopping locally. Thank you to all the businesses, which participated.

If you are not already a member of Cobh Chamber and are interested in being part of this global organisation, please contact the Chamber Office at Sirius Centre for further details.

Thank you for all your support. I hope you all have a happy, healthy and successful 2016.
