February Business Breakfast

We are delighted to welcome Seamus Heaney, Head of Visit Cork as the guest speaker for the February Business Breakfast in association with the Port of Cork.

Seamus will give us an overview of the Pure Cork viewpoint on Cobh’s performance as a key tourism hub and the potential within Cobh and the Great Island. Seamus will also be joined by digital expert and guru Eoin Kennedy of Update Digital, who will give us some practical and usable tips to help increase company profile online.

Seamus comes from a hospitality background having trained as a Hotelier.He has over 30 years’ experience in developing tourism in Ireland. Seamus has extensive knowledge of the role of a Convention Bureau. In 2007 Seamus and a number of his Cork industry colleagues, approached Cork City & County Council for the necessary support to establish a regional convention bureau having recognised that Cork wasn’t a strong destination for International MICE business. The Convention Bureau was formed with Seamus as chairman. Cork Convention Bureau has generated in excess of €100m worth of business for the region between 2008 to2019.

In 2016 Fáilte Ireland approached both councils with the ask to create a leisure brand for Cork. After much consultation through an expert group, it was agreed the model should mirror the existing work on business tourism and from that Visit Cork was formed.Visit Cork is now the go-to Tourism body in Cork for both business and leisure tourism.
